Abstract

<jats:p>Th is monograph addresses issues related to the freedom of foreign exchange transactions, taking into account the multifaceted nature of this research area. While discussing current problems in this fi eld, a historical perspective is also included, which enables an understanding of the directions of change in foreign exchange legislation. Presenting the evolution of foreign exchange law makes it possible to trace its origins and the transformations it has undergone, particularly after Poland&amp;rsquo;s accession to the European Union. Th e analysis of legal regulations &amp;ndash; framed by the scope of the monograph&amp;rsquo;s title &amp;ndash; illustrates the extent of permissible freedom in foreign exchange transactions, while also considering the obligations and limitations imposed on participants in such transactions. Special attention is devoted to the aspect of foreign exchange control and the role played by the National Bank of Poland in this regard. Th is scope of research allows for conclusions to be drawn that highlight the freedom of foreign exchange operations in the context of economic freedom and with due regard to the specifi c role of the central bank. Th e research conducted also forms the basis for presenting current trends in the development of modern foreign exchange legislation.</jats:p>
