Abstract

The work was created as a result of the search for an answer to the question about the determinants of the development of independence of pupils of rehabilitation institutions, and therefore concerns an important phenomenon for both educational sciences and the practice of resocialization, which has so far been little subject to scientific exploration. The aim of the study was to recognize the features of independence declared by minors staying in the MOW and to explain the relationship between the personality traits of the pupils, i.e. self-esteem, anxiety, sense of locus of control, social competence and demoralization and the scope and degree of their independence. Therefore, in the first theoretical part of the work, the concept of independence is discussed and the profile of a pupil from MOW is described, in order to look at personality traits characteristic of social maladjustment and showing relationships with human independence. Attention was also paid to the objectives and tasks of the rehabilitation of minors, showing the external factors conditioning the preparation of minors for independence in life. In the second part, the methodological assumptions are followed by the results of the research along with their interpretation. The summary contains the most important conclusions and recommendations for the practice of resocialization.
