Abstract

The article analyzes the features of value-semantic orientations of volunteers who demonstrate an emergency type of prosocial behavior and are ready to provide assistance in emergencies. The results of an empirical study (n=205) showed that the willingness to participate in volunteer activities in emergency situations is associated for volunteers with the values of spiritual satisfaction, maintaining deep emotional connections with those they help and with each other, as well as developing and satisfying the need for affiliation. Understanding the value and meaning orientations of volunteers who are ready to provide assistance in emergencies can be useful in developing social and psychological support programs aimed at preventing emotional burnout and maintaining the psychological health of volunteers.
