<jats:p>The decreasing church structures, the immigration of millions of Moslems, incalculable changes in the cultural and political climate in the churches and the challenge posed by offering ethics instead of religion in the schools in Brandenburg have turned religious instruction into a culturally and politically controversial topic. Martin Heckel supplies arguments in favor of Christian religious instruction and at the same time indicates his support for the efforts being made to introduce Islamic religious instruction as well.</jats:p>
