<jats:p>Kathrin Wiesche examines the consequences of state silence in international law. In particular, she outlines the conditions under which state silence can be interpreted as an expression of consent, that is qualified silence and acquiescence, and illustrates areas of international law in which such tacit consent is applied.</jats:p>
