Семь раз ‘и’ равно … [i]? О букве ‘и’ и всех её разновидностях в «Введенїи въ гисторїю европеискую»

<jats:p>This chapter analyzes the distribution of the letters и and ї, as well as orthographic features related to them in “Vvedenïe v″ gïstorïju evropeiskuju” (1718), a translation of Samuel Pufendorf’s influential historical work. The variation in the use of и and ї reflects the instability of Russian orthography during the Petrine reforms. While ї dominates in phonologically or morphologically salient positions, и prevails in some high-frequency words. The study illustrates how early 18th-century Russian orthography balanced tradition and emerging standardization.</jats:p>
