Manufacturing industry of fibrous substances of Naddniprianshchyna in the sphere of imperial interests of Muscovy in the eighteenth century

<jats:p>For the first time in historiography, the proposed work highlights the difficult socio-political and economic conditions for the development of silk, cloth, and linen production on the territory of Ukrainian lands that were part of the Russian state. Accordingly, these industries were characterized by impulsive development: either growth or decline in production, periodic reduction in production and income. There were several main reasons for this: a change of ownership, a decrease in the supply of raw materials, protests by workers, etc. The author analyses the true goals of the so-called ‘reforms’ in these industries, starting with Peter the Great and ending with Catherine the Great.</jats:p>
