<jats:p>The book explores the economic development of the population of Dnieper Ukraine within the framework of a historical-comparative analysis of broader European processes that took place during the XVII–XVIII centuries. It identifies common trends and distinctive features in trade, manufacturing, the emergence and establishment of bourgeois relations, and the origins of the financial banking system. Special attention is given to contradictions and competitive struggles in the field of foreign trade between Ukraine and Muscovy, as well as to the expansionist policies of the tsarist government.
