Abstract

The analytical note reveals the reasons, essence and specifics of decommunization at the stage of the collapse of the communist-Bolshevik totalitarian system and during the post-totalitarian transit of Ukraine. It is shown that the initiative in the process of decommunization belonged to the leaders of the Ukrainian state. They came from the communist-Soviet nomenclature, which united with the fighters for independence in order to remain in power and prevent the intention of the Russian leaders to use economic and all kinds of other dependence from the imperial center to draw Ukraine into the Russian field of influence. The conditions and circumstances of the liberation of Ukrainian society from the simulacra of a distorted world and its natural involvement in the process of decommunization are revealed. It is found that during the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity, the role of civil society in decommunization became decisive, and at the stage of the Russian-Ukrainian War of Independence it had an existential dimension. The proposed analytical note provides recommendations for operating with the term in the educational space and the system of public administration.
