Territorial identity of the ukrainian borderland: historical origins and geopolitical influences

<jats:p>The monograph is devoted to the study of the main trends of spatial development of ukrainian border regions in historical retrospect, to clarify the advantages and disadvantages of their border status, to identify the patterns of dynamics of processes of spatial transformations and deformations and the specifics of territorial and regional identities on the border. The emphasis is on the analysis of the phenomenon of border culture and the mentality of border societies, the variability of socio-cultural codes on the borders and differences in value systems. Possible ways of minimizing conflict in "problematic" regions and strategies for forming regional policy on the basis of sustainable development of the identity of regions and using the advantages of decentralization for making management decisions are presented.</jats:p>
