<jats:p>THE MYSTERY OF THE ORIGINS OF KRYSTYNA, CHAMBERMAID AT THE COURT OF JADWIGA OF ANJOU. A CONTRIBUTION TO RESEARCH ON THE COURTS OF QUEENS IN LATE MEDIEVAL POLAND A characteristic feature of queens’ courts was their female entourage, known as the fraucymer. It was headed by a woman who managed this institution, called the mistress of the court (magistra curie). The first chamberlain known from the Polish court was at the court of Jadwiga of Anjou – the little-known Krystyna. This article attempts to answer the question of who was the first chamberlain at the courts of queens in late medieval Poland.</jats:p>
