Abstract
<jats:p>The monograph titled Polsko-ukraińskie spotkania językowe (Polish-Ukrainian language meetings) is the result of the 2022 project "Polskie cztery pory roku w Charkowie. Spotkania z polską kulturą, językiem i historią” ("Polish four seasons in Kharkiv. Encounters with Polish culture, language and history”) (financed by the NAWA programme “Promotion of the Polish language”, BJP/PJP/2021/1/00011/U). It was prepared by researchers from universities in Lviv, Lutsk, Kharkiv, Kraków, Łódź, Poznań, Toruń and Szczecin. The ten studies included in it, seven written in Polish and three in Ukrainian, provide a lot of previously unknown information about the Polish and Ukrainian languages and their mutual influence, the traces of which are confirmed in the lexicon and grammar. Looking at the Polish language through the prism of the structurally close Ukrainian language, and vice versa – at the Ukrainian language through the prism of the Polish language, allows us to notice new linguistic phenomena and better understand the knowledge about society, its history, culture and contacts preserved in the language. The authors of the publication hope that it will also contribute to strengthening the bonds and solidarity of two nations – Polish and Ukrainian.</jats:p>
