Abstract
This article, using empirical data, examines the relationship between cognitive characteristics, informational and psychological resilience and victimization among law enforcement officers. The study included 379 respondents (198 men, 181 women) from the central apparatus and territorial departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russian Federation, aged 22 to 50. During the survey was used the author's «Information-Psychological Vulnerability Assessment Scale» (IPV), as well as a set of methods: the TSOV-4 questionnaire for assessing the field dependence-field independence cognitive style (V.V. Selivanov and K.A. Osokina), «Critical Thinking Questionnaire» (L. Starkey, adapted by E.L. Lutsenko) and the «Cognitive Errors Questionnaire» (OKO) (E.A. Bobrov). Based on empirical data, it has been shown that the informational and psychological resilience and victimization of law enforcement officers are determined by the cognitive characteristics (cognitive style and critical thinking). There are differences in the predominant cognitive style and the severity of critical thinking, and cognitive errors will vary among law enforcement officers with informational and psychological resilience and victimization. The results of the research will enable a more objective approach to understanding and assessing the cognitive characteristics of law enforcement officers, and the development of targeted methods for psychodiagnostics, selection, and psychological support of law enforcement personnel.
