Abstract

<jats:p>The monograph, prepared by the staff of the Department of Economic Theory of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics in collaboration with colleagues from a number of universities in Russia and Uzbekistan, attempts a new reading and rethinking of the main problems of the modern economy in the context of geopolitical challenges and global risks. A study has been conducted aimed at finding solutions to both theoretical and practical problems. In the first section, considerable attention is paid to the study of tools for adapting the Russian economy to external influences intertwined with the action of internal accumulated negative factors, the significance and content of the transition from the economy of demand to the economy of supply are analyzed, the problems of single-industry towns in the context of uneven spatial development are studied, the constraining socio-economic factors relevant to Russia are identified, as well as the effects of numerous collective sanctions. The second section examines possible options for responding to global turbulent processes using the example of a number of countries, regions and sectors of the economy, assuming the achievement of social, economic and environmental sustainability. It is addressed to university teachers, graduate students, students, as well as researchers and practitioners.</jats:p>
