Abstract
<jats:p>The textbook examines the processes and trends of tourism development in modern conditions, the specifics of the functioning of tourist regions and subregions, the dynamics of the distribution of tourist flows across countries and cities of the world. The typology of tourist cities is given, and the processes of forming tourist cities of different types are considered using specific examples. The features of the planning and compositional-spatial organization of tourist complexes, zones, trails, routes are considered. Methodological provisions and practical recommendations are given for improving the architectural appearance of tourist cities, including works of monumental and decorative arts in the urban environment, and integrating architecture and nature. The issues of planning and regulating the development processes of tourist cities, including the diagnosis of their condition, the development and implementation of strategies and tactics of development and transformation, are considered.
