Abstract
This chapter examines the legal framework of flexible working hours in Russia, focusing on the regulations outlined in the Russian Labor Code (e.g., Clause 102 for flexible schedules). Supported by case studies and empirical data, it explores the benefits, including improved work–life balance and productivity, as well as the challenges of flexible work arrangements, such as the risks of overworking and social isolation. The study highlights generational shifts and gender inequality in labor force participation, emphasizing how flexible or hybrid work models can address barriers for women with caregiving responsibilities. Drawing from recent surveys (e.g., the 2023 Quality-of-Life Index) and policy recommendations, this chapter underlines the strategic role of flexible work in enhancing employee satisfaction and promoting gender equality in the workplace.
