Abstract

Abstract
This handbook offers in-depth discussions of core insights and analytical tools found in International Political Sociology (IPS) scholarship. It discusses insights offered by deploying sociological theory to understand different facets of international politics. Structured around a set of defining commitments—relationalism, intersubjectivity, and historicism—the book shows what is distinct about IPS, where it came from, and where it can go next to deepen insights and engage debates beyond IPS itself. The book contains a range of chapters on different dimensions of core concepts such as power, order, resistance, and agency, showing what IPS can offer in terms of empirical insights and how it contributes to a deeper understanding of both historical and contemporary political developments.
