Cancel Culture for Conservatives

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>This chapter highlights another axis of division in the Republican civil war. While Wyoming’s old guard Republicans are mostly focused on addressing problems that bubble up from local concerns, the new right is mostly focused on expressing their devotion to a finite set of causes of importance to the larger MAGA-verse. One way they do so is by censuring legislators and party officials who do not toe the line. As a consequence, the new, MAGA-aligned insurgents have nurtured a punishing cancel culture. The chapter concludes by theorizing about the causes of growing political censoriousness on the left and the right.</jats:p>
