Abstract
Abstract
This chapter focuses primarily on critical thinking and cognitive clarity. The goal here is to elucidate ways to improve thinking, understanding, and perceiving. Becoming aware of our agendas, self-talking and our tendency toward overgeneralization, disqualifying the positive, and failing to take emotional reactions as an opportunity for further reflection are behaviors discussed in this chapter. Wasting energy on worrying—a natural but unhelpful process—is discussed, as are ways to question ourselves to gain greater clarity and a healthier perspective. In this way, comfortable but unhelpful patterns are brought to light and replaced with ones that will maximize possibility in different situations.
