Abstract
<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>This chapter includes a discussion of the provenance and historical context of the songs of Sibelius’s Opus 90, their premiere performances and recordings, and the vocal range of each song. Opus 90 is Sibelius’s final song opus, and comes full circle with these settings of the poetry of Johan Ludvig Runeberg, the same poet Sibelius turned to for his first song, “Serenad,” and his first complete song collection, Opus 13. The author has created a phonetic transcription and a word-for-word English translation of each song.
