Abstract

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>This chapter provides the reader with a summary about the epidemiology, risk factors, clinical features, diagnosis, and management of fungal infections caused by Candida, Cryptococcus, and Dermatophytes. It goes on to discuss localized and systemic candidiasis, cryptococcal lung disease, and meningitis. It also provides information about dermatophyte infections, including such conditions as tinea corporis, tinea pedis, and tinea capitis. Diagnostic approaches, including microscopy and culture, are outlined. It also provides information about topical and systemic antifungal therapies. All of the information provided here maps to the RCEM Basic Sciences syllabus, making it relevant to Emergency Medicine practice and the examination.</jats:p>
