<p> <italic>Regeneration of Animals</italic> examines the fascinating subject of regeneration and relates it to the animal kingdom. It is a subject that lay people and professionals alike consider to be a fascinating mystery. We all know that salamanders can regenerate their limbs and we cannot. This begs the question: how can they do it when we can’t? This book is timely as studies of regeneration have recently been undergoing quite a renaissance in universities world-wide. This book focuses on regenerative processes found in the animal kingdom, and on how they work. The scope is wide and ranges from familiar examples like the urodele limb and planarian worms, to less well-known ones like colonial ascidians, cockroach limbs, holothurian guts and deer antlers. The last chapter includes a brief speculation about how this knowledge might be applied to human regeneration. </p>
