Abstract

Abstract
This chapter examines how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming personality assessment in four key ways. First, large language models (LLMs) enable rapid creation of personality test items, although validity evidence remains essential. Second, test-takers attempt to use AI to improve scores, even though LLMs produce inconsistent results across different prompts and models. Third, AI assists in interpreting complex personality assessments, potentially saving consultants significant time while providing coaching at scale. Fourth, automated passive assessment methods analyze social media and behavioral data, although these raise privacy concerns and lack predictive validity evidence for workplace outcomes. The chapter discusses AI-powered interviews as an emerging alternative to traditional self-report assessments. While AI changes how personality assessments are created, administered, and interpreted, traditional psychometric tests remain valuable when they provide the most efficient, accurate, and fair insights for practical workplace decisions.
