Abstract
Abstract
The highest good stands at the center of Kant’s philosophical system. I introduce the purpose of my book as one devoted to uncovering the highest good’s conceptual shape and philosophical potential. As an invitation, I present a brief gloss on what the highest good is, along with a description of Kant’s understanding of the “good” in general. In this context, I explain why Kant thinks it is a necessary component of ethics, as well as its connection to happiness. Finally, as motivation for investing one’s time in reading a book on the topic, I present a philosophical ode in its honor. An acknowledgments section follows.
