<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>There was no denying that Karsavina was physically beautiful, a quality frequently mentioned by critics and other observers. The attention to her physical beauty at the expense of real analysis of her dance often irritated Karsavina. But, in her own life, she celebrated beauty and loved beautiful objects and gave great thought to how she furnished her home. Diaghilev knew that he could deploy her beauty to charm potential patrons. Photographers and artists were eager to portray her, so she appeared in posed studio shots, in various portraits, paintings, posters, and sculptures. Milliners and fashion designers were delighted to have her advertise their products.</jats:p>
