It covers common alert methods like cellular calls and texts, satellite phones, emergency notification devices, and personal locator beacons, and explains location technologies such as assisted global navigation satellite systems. The chapter details mission progression—from alert to locate, access, stabilize, and transport—and outlines team-notification workflows, staging-area management, vehicle and responder safety, personal protective equipment, and multi-agency coordination. It also discusses real-time personnel tracking, managing accidents involving responders, and practical considerations for helicopter and ground access. The focus is on matching resources to mission needs, developing contingency plans and preplans, delivering clear briefings, and ensuring individual readiness to support timely, safe, and effective mobilization.</jats:p>
