Abstract
Abstract
This work is a comprehensive handbook that covers past, present, and likely future developments in the anthropology of religion. Suitable for undergraduates and graduates, the book brings together leading specialists to consider different regions of the world, classic and emerging themes, and some of the main methodological and theoretical approaches taken by anthropologists over the past century. The book is divided into five sections and is designed for ease of use in undergraduate courses. Chapters can be read individually or “read across” each other in clusters, as explained in the Introduction. No previous knowledge of anthropology is necessary to benefit from the book, but contributors provide original observations on cutting-edge developments as well as useful overviews of the most significant dimensions of any given topic.
