Corpora and Translation

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>Corpora allow scholars the opportunity to investigate and make generalizations about translation and language use based on the observation of cumulative patterns of occurrence in actual texts. Over the years, corpus‐based translation research has grown in complexity as regards the design of studies, the computational methods used, and the range of areas investigated. In professional and general practice, corpora have provided the basis for the automation of multilingual text production, including translation. Advancements in corpus‐based machine translation have also had a considerable impact on the education of future translators.</jats:p>
