Abstract
Abstract
This entry presents an overview of the new additions and revisions to the translation and interpreting entries included in the second edition of the Wiley Encyclopedia of Applied Linguistics . Recently commissioned and updated entries respond to three intersecting trajectories occurring in the language industry and beyond, including the large‐scale dislocation of peoples, the availability of machine‐ and AI‐generated language mediation, and the increasing visibility of translation and interpreting in popular culture. A number of entries from the first edition were also incorporated into the new edition, either in their original form, given their theoretical and methodological relevance, or in an updated version to account for recent scholarship in the field.
