Abstract

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>The entry provides an overview of offline vocabulary measures, that is, measures without applied time restrictions, focusing on the most common types of measures used to assess vocabulary knowledge. It presents the pros and cons of different measures and their contexts of use, based on validation research. The entry first discusses measures of the form‐meaning link, focusing on recognition formats like multiple‐choice and matching tasks, and recall formats like meaning recall and form recall. It then describes other measures, including yes–no tests, free production tasks, word association tasks, and tests of formulaic language and collocation.</jats:p>
