Abstract
<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>This entry discusses qualitative research in language assessment. In the introductory part, the entry provides an overview of research paradigms and their implications for language assessment. In the second section of the entry, qualitative research is explored within the context of research paradigms and methodologies. The third section of the entry discusses qualitative methods in language assessment. The discussion is complemented by two exemplary studies showcasing the application of qualitative research in language assessment. Ultimately, this entry concludes by advocating for further incorporation of qualitative research to capture the richness and depth of language assessment issues that may elude quantitative methods.</jats:p>
