Abstract

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>This article offers an overview of research methods in Language for Specific Purposes (LSP), with particular emphasis on English for Specific Purposes (ESP). It distinguishes between methodologies and methods and highlights how methodological choices reflect researchers' epistemological orientations. The article outlines two major strands in LSP research: linguistic analysis of genres, vocabulary, and discourse, and qualitative approaches to needs analysis and learning contexts. It discusses core techniques such as genre analysis, corpus linguistics, register analysis, case studies, and mixed‐methods designs.</jats:p>
