Bilingual and Multilingual Education: An Overview

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>This overview summarizes key issues in bilingual and multilingual education that were examined in entries from the previous edition of this encyclopedia. It also outlines the rationale underpinning the current discussion on bilingual and multilingual education and explains how entries were selected and organized for the new edition have been included to broaden and deepen these discussions. It is believed that further research and discussion are needed to address evolving challenges and shape the future of bilingual and multilingual education.</jats:p>
