Abstract

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>Organizational ecology is a theoretical approach to the study of organizations, populations of organizations, and organizational environments. It pays special attention to the role of environmental resources and constraints in shaping the nature of organizations as well as the emergence, growth, and decline of different organizational forms. As a framework, it seeks to explain the life chances of organizations at different stages of development in relation to the carrying capacities of their resource environments.</jats:p>
